Troubleshooting
Zira Music problems
Fix the common Zira Music issues: the bot will not join, a link will not play, playlists look empty, and Spotify import.
"Discord did not let the bot join that channel"#
Zira Music needs View Channel, Connect, and Speak in the voice channel. Two extra things block joins even with those set:
- The channel is full: raise the user limit or grant Zira Music Move Members (bots with it bypass the limit).
- The channel is a private voice channel: add Zira Music's role to the channel's permission overrides.
A link will not play#
Zira Music plays only from its own high quality library. A link is used to find the song in that library, and the song is never streamed from the original site.
- "I couldn't find ... in the Zira Music library": the song from your link is not in the library. Run
/playwith the song name (add the artist for a better match) and pick it from the results. - "I can't play that link": Zira Music could not read a song from that link. This happens with SoundCloud links, Spotify albums and playlists, and links that are not music. Search by name with
/playinstead, or bring a Spotify playlist over with Spotify import. - A playlist link played only some songs: songs that are not in the library are skipped on purpose. Add the missing ones by searching for them with
/play. - A podcast, mix or livestream will not play: only single songs are in the library.
My playlists page is empty, but I have playlists#
Playlists belong to your Discord account, not to the server. The dashboard always shows the playlists of whoever is signed in:
- If a member of your server has playlists, they show on THEIR dashboard, not yours.
- Make sure you are signed in with the same Discord account you used with the bot.
Liked Songs appears automatically once you like your first song (or open the playlists page).
Spotify import#
Importing needs two things: Zira Premium in the server, and your Spotify account linked (a one-time step, done from the playlists page). Spotify only lets apps read playlists through a linked account.
- If account linking says Spotify could not finish authorizing, start the connection again. An old authorization code cannot be reused after the app callback address changes.
- If Spotify did not grant profile access, reconnect and approve all requested permissions. Zira requests only playlist reading and the basic profile identity needed to save the link.
- "Could not read that Spotify playlist": the playlist is private. Make it public in Spotify, or link the account that owns it.
- "That does not look like a Spotify playlist link": paste a link that starts with
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/.
The player card buttons do nothing#
If the card is grayed out, that session is over: play something to get a fresh card. If the bot left the channel or was restarted, the old card is disabled on purpose so stale buttons don't mislead anyone.
